Forgeworld has produced some new outstanding models for all Tau generals to enjoy.

The Tau XV9-01 with Fusion Cascades is an advanced battlesuit with mounted fusion guns adapted for use with the XV9 battlesuits. This fusion gun fires in bursts, which create damage through the sheer number of shots rather than brute strength.

The Tau XV9-04 is equipped with phased ion guns, experimental weapons marking the transition phase from vehicle mounted Ion cannon to battlesuit-incorporated Ion cannon. This type of weapon fires projectiles which are able to destroy the toughest of armour on both vehicles and infantry.

Shas’o R’alai is a veteran among veterans, a champion among the Fire Caste of Ke’lshan, and a master in the use of the XV9 battlesuit. His great ability has allowed him to don the most advanced battlesuit the Earth Caste has yet produced.

The rules for the new XV9-09 and XV9-04 can be found in the Imperial Armour Apocalypse: Volume II, while the rules for Shas’o R’alai are available for free from the forgeworld website in the coming months.

All 3 kits were sculpted by Daren Parrwood, and will be available on the week starting on April the 26th, 2010. The XV9-01 and XV9-04 cost £25 ($38) each, while Shas’o costs £30 ($46).

The day has finally come; the new Blood Angels are out! A strangely appropriate day too, on good Friday.
The new releases include the new Blood Angels codex, the new plastic kits and several new characters (metal).

The 3 new plastic sets are the:

Sanguinary Guard – The elite warriors of the Blood Angels chapter.

Death Company – available as a new multi-part plastic set.

Baal Predator – the characteristic Blood Angels tank available for the first time as a multi-part plastic set.

Newly released metal characters include:

The Sanguinor, Exemplar of the Host – A completely new Blood Angels character, one which exemplifies all of the Chapter’s ideals; a mythical figure who descends upon the battlefield only in the Blood Angel’s time of most dire need.

Lemartes, Guardian of the Lost – The death company’s warden, Chaplain Lemartes is afflicted by the Black Rage, but his superhuman willpower makes him capable of fully controlling his actions even in such a state.

Lemartes has a rather well-made model to represent him!

A heavier variation of the Valkyrie has been released. The new Imperial Valkyrie Skytalon is designed to carry the Taurus Venator deep behind the enemy’s ranks. It’s heavier build allows for rugged magnetic clamps and fuel tanks which allow for longer operations. This lovely beast is mounted with heavy bolter and a choice between hellstike missiles and missile pods.

This is certainly a great looking model that Forge World has unleashed upon us! I just love those 2 big jet engines, those wheels and suspension, and of course all that gorgeous weaponry!  It’s certainly a great 40k model, although I don’t think much of the paint scheme used for it. That whole air paint gun thing is a bit too crude… but hey we can all paint ours the way we like right?

The Imperial Valkyrie costs £50 (about $75) and comes in a resin/plastic kit, along with a base, Hellstrike missiles and rocket pods. Its rules are included with the upcoming Imperial Armour 8.

Forge World just released a new Warhammer 40k resin kit for a 6-wheeler rapid strike and scouting vehicle. This craft is heavily armed useful for rapid reconnaissance and quick raids.

The body is by Will Hayes, while the crew is designed by Simon Egan. Everything is resin, and the model can be either equipped with a twin-linked lascannon or twin-linked multi laser. Hunter -killer missiles are also available.

A really good looking model and a totally new one for the Imperial Guard/ Elysian line. Rules will be available on the upcoming ” Imperial Armour: Volume 8″. Forge World said they’ll also have some experimental rules for download in the near future. Keep updated here.

Another new resin kit from Forge World, this time of Ork Mek Boss Buzzgob. Don’t care for Orks too much myself, but this is a great kit anyway. I especially like the little goblins, probably more than Buzzgob himself, who’s got a slightly weird looking face (even for an Ork).  This kit will start shipping on the week starting on the 25th of January 2010, so if you see this before, you can pre-order. It just £28, with no extra accessories required (unlike the big chunky dreadnoughts).

Forge World have readied 2 great resin kits out for pre-order: The Space Wolves venerable dreadnought and the Raven Guard venerable dreadnought. These items will be shipped out on the 25th of January, 2010.

I personally have a weakness for these huge b*****ds (especially on Dawn of War…heh heh heh eat dust Eldar Avatar). And in all fairness, at £26 a pop they’re  quite worth it and a pleasure to paint.

A new amazing Forge World model is available for pre-order – the Tzeentch Daemon Lord of Change, Aetaos`rau`keres, a massive 240mm- high model depicted summoning horrors from his right hand. The model is in rein and costs £132. I have to say the Lord of Change has always been a favourite model of mine, and in this case Forge World has done a really good job (the wings are a little plain, but otherwise it makes for a great model – interesting to paint too). The model is very well-made and detailed, and the paint job on the Forge World pictures makes me want to buy one really bad. This model is the lat of a set of four to be released, and thus completed Forge World’s set of Daemon Lords for the Greater Gods of Chaos.

The model is currently available for pre-order, and will be sent out beginning from the 30th of November. Rule for thi model will be available at the soon-to-be Imperial Armour Apocalypse II book.

This Autumn saw the release of more Forgeworld monstrosities in the shape of the Nurgle Plague Hulk and the Khorne Blood Slaughterer Impaler. Both are Chaos demons and both are very well made 40k miniatures.

The Nurgle Plague hulk is a Nurgle demon which has become joined with the body of a Chaos Defiler. The kit for this awful(ly awesome) model is composed of a resin part (the demon) and parts from the Chaos Defiler. This diseased horror will certainly bring a smile to all you twisted Nurgle lovers out there!

The second model in our lineup today is the Khorne Blood Slaughterer Impaler. What a name! This violent monstrosity is a Khorne deamon incarnated as a machine, and it shows. This thing honestly looks like something you would absolutely not want to meet.

Forge World are well known for their great 40k “miniatures”. Well, quite huge ones. The new Tau Empire XV9 Armour is now out and available for sale directly from Forge World, and is priced at £24.95. Not too bad if you ask me.

The model is not legal in tournaments, but is a cool addition to any collection and can also be used in friendly games. Depends on what your focus is. The XV9 Close Support Armour is meant for close range firepower support, especially against large numbers of enemy troops (hordes beware). It is also a really hard to wound unit, although it is a bit short on wounds (typical really). Basically a pumped up crisis suit packing an extra punch with its higher resilience and ability to punch out more firepower (with some heavier weapons available to it than to crisis suits).

These rules are still experimental, and Forgeworld has said that more detailed rules (esp. for upgrades) are to follow.
