Is GW pulling the plug on 40k Witch Hunters and Daemon hunters?

in Rumours and Upcoming Armies

Who plays Witch hunters and daemon hunters here? Not many of you perhaps. These 2 interesting yet uncommon armies seem to have been targeted as the next withdrawals from Games Workshop. According to a rumour from Librarium Online, it seems that Games Workshop has officially withdrawn codices of the Witch Hunters and Daemon Hunters armies. Existing stock is of course still being sold, but once finished will not be replaced. Stores and stockists have been requested to get rid of what stock they have within 6 months and then stop selling these books.

Deamon Hunters (and Witch hunters) - Coming rebirth or an early death?

Daemon Hunters (and Witch hunters) - Coming rebirth or an early death?

This seems to mean one of two things – either they’re preparing to relaunch the Witch Hunter and Daemon Hunter ranges, or they’re planning to pull the plug on them indefinitely, turning them into the new Dark Eldar (which might be coming back to life next year).

Only time can really tell. In the meantime, enjoy them while they’re still current!

If you’re a collector of either one of these armies, or if you plan on buying some of the minis for any reason, take a look at ebay to find Witch Hunters and Daemon Hunters at much cheaper prices than what is sold at stores.

Such a shame if true. The DH models are really awesome looking if anything.

I hope they are not going to kill them… They have a pretty amazing background, I think it fits very well in W40k universe… I made a promise to myself to get a Grey Knights army if the codex ever get updated…

GW is not pulling the plug on these armies. Reading this (if true) only solidifies that they’re getting a new albeit combined codex. It’s widely known that GW plans to redo ALL of the codices before moving to 6th edition development.

However, If things have deviated from the original plan… I don’t much care for those armies anyway.

I doubt if they will disappear. I suspect a new combined Inquisition codex is about to appear.

I don’t believe they are pulling the plug as much as focusing more on the grey knights and sisters than the actual inquisition.

The word is new Dex and new minis, has been for a while. However I have remembered to purchase at least one of each figure in both lines to ensure that I can make a killing if they do get the Big Chop.
Although if it was the chop then Forgeworld would also pull their line of them in six months or so because the majority of the stuff on there (except hector rex) is to go with armies of them.
I don’t put much stock in the rumour mill but I did hear that the minis were going to be pulled off the shelf “For a while” from a staffer. Remember that the Metal Daemons disappeared for a few months before their release.
