"Ultramarines: The Movie" flyer
It’s official, there’s going to be a 40k movie, and it’s going to be called “Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 movie” Long rumoured and expected, an official announcement has at last been made. In this short interview, Dan Abnett, famous author of so many Games Workshop novels (such as the Gaunt’s Ghosts series) reveals more details about the upcoming movie by Games Workshop.
The movie is going to revolve around the Ultramarines, a chapter of the Imperial Space Marines, a superhuman, enhanched group of elite soldiers dedicated to protecting the Emperor and his galactic Imperium.
Abnett was approached about 2 1/2 or 3 years ago about working on what is to be Games Workshop debut movie. He describes his experience with working on the movie as “major undertaking… but very enjoyable”.
Happily the movie will be faithful to the Warhammer 40k legendarium, something that seems to be central to what Abnett describes as Games Workshop’s “…definitive opening statement”.
What can one say? At long last! While I am very happy to hear a confirmation to the rumours, I just hope that the movie will not turn Games Workshop into even more of a sellout.
Here’s another video taken at Games Day 2009 where the movie is announced:
People seem very happy about it
